Bill Clinton to Truther: “How Dare You!”

Finally, a prominent Democrat has decided to get pugnacious with the 9/11 “Truther” Morons. Unfortunately, it wasn’t any of the Democrats currently running for President (or John Edwards who has decided to go the other direction and cozy up to the anti-American weasels or nearly half the Democratic voters who are the anti-American weasels themselves).

So, mad props to America’s Homeboy, Bill Clinton for smacking down a couple Truthers at one of his wife’s campaign stops.

Clinton’s 50-minute speech, which started about an hour behind schedule, was derailed briefly by several hecklers in the audience who shouted that the 2001 terrorist attacks were a fraud. Rather than ignoring them, Clinton seemed to relish a direct confrontation.

“A fraud? No, it wasn’t a fraud,” Clinton said, as the crowd cheered him on. “I’ll be glad to talk to you if you shut up and let me talk.”

When another heckler shouted that the attacks were an “inside job,” Clinton took even greater umbrage.

“An inside job? How dare you. How dare you. It was not an inside job,” Clinton said. “You guys have got to be careful, you’re going to give Minnesota a bad reputation.”

I don’t know of any national politician who’s pimp-handed the Truthers quite so hard since Newt did it and that includes the Republicans running for President. Taking on the crazies who are highly-regarded in the opposition party would instantly set any Republican head and shoulders above anyone else in the race and get them some instant appreciation and respect from significant numbers of voters from both parties as well as the squishy “undecideds” who lurk in the middle somewhere.

If this really is going to be something the Clinton campaign will hit a few times as emphatically as Bill did, it’s going to overcome a lot of Hillary’s deficiencies, including her bone-deep socialism. Regardless of whether she does or not, it’s good that Bill did and he ought to get some credit.
