There’s an interesting article up on memeorandum today about the so-called Haditha Massacre. The article discloses the contents of a Marina intelligence report that basically says that what the Marines walked into at Haditha was an al-Qaeda setup, designed to create valuable videotape propaganda for the Islamists. As it happens, their plans were mostly foiled, despite what happened at Haditha. It’s worth noting that the incident, which was widely compared to the My Lai massacre in Vietnam by the MSM and as cold-blooded murder by a US Senator, has resulted in only one court marshal recommendation. Two other soldiers have had all charges against them dropped and two more are waiting to see if their charges will also be dropped, as has been recommended by a military investigator.

So did the MSM do al-Qaeda’s dirty work? Given how the MSM has reported this story thus far, it sure looks like enemy propaganda ended up as news thanks to some very eager and uncritical media outlets. The corrections and apologies haven’t exactly been plentiful thus far. But I don’t expect they will be.
