Well, I guess he should hang things up right now.

There’s one vote that Rudy Giuliani definitely can’t count on in his 2008 presidential bid: his own daughter’s. According to the 17-year-old Caroline Giuliani’s Facebook profile, she’s supporting Barack Obama.

Okay. That’s one reason. The other reason is because she’s not old enough to vote.

Really, though. How important is this story? She’s a teenage liberal rebelling against her father. It’s like like there aren’t millions of teenagers doing exactly the same thing pretty much everywhere in the galaxy. That’s why kids get tattoos and piercings, wear what they think are outrageous t-shirts, date scruffy losers, and become liberals. Teenagers aren’t possessed of what we’d consider buckets full of rationality. They act out because trying to distinguish themselves as completely different beings from their parents. It’s a behavior that’s as old as Cain and his pile of vegetables. It’s certainly not news and it’s no black mark against Giuliani, no matter how much Slate may want it to be.

(via memeorandum)

UPDATE: Okay, I know she’ll be 18 in 2008. That’s hardly the point. What on Earth has journalism come to when we’re noting the political preferences of a candidate’s underage child? And what’s with printing her full name and picture?

This is almost as funny as Carter asking his pre teen daughter for foreign policy advice.
