Here’s a little tidbit I thought was interesting.
HOUSTON, Texas (CNN) – A woman screaming “you’re not a real conservative, sir” was removed by police from a welcoming reception for likely GOP presidential candidate Fred Thompson Wednesday morning. A second protester was also taken from the room.
Houston police officers escorted the woman — as well as a man — from the hangar at Hobby Airport, where Thompson was shaking hands with a crowd of supporters. They were not arrested.
Sounds pretty commonplace, even maybe a bit rough. Except that wasn’t the whole story.
The guy who wrote this is the manager of CNN’s political desk. He’s not exactly a stranger to journalism and he should know what part of a quote in the part that matters. He called the woman a “protester” which makes her sound benign and maybe a little helpless. That couldn’t be farther from the truth.
Let me ask. What, exactly, was the protesting? Thompson’s conservative credentials? That he’s a member of the CFR? Yeah, go ahead and pull the other one. It has bells on it. We all know she wasn’t protesting anything because there was nothing to protest. She was there to make a scene so she could go back and crow to her conspiracy-addled compatriots about how she so valiantly embodied the spirit of the First Amendment by standing up to the faux conservative and his jackbooted thugs. Turns out, that’s exactly waht she did. More on her later.
Brusk ought to know better. I say that because if he could quote her “you are no conservative” bit, then he had to have heard what she said immediately afterwards. Luckily, she was kind enough to post her video on YouTube so we could all hear it and The New Editor linked it. Here’s all of what she said.
“You were a lobbyist for 18 years! You are not a real conservative, Sir! What do you think about World Trade Center 7? It was an inside job!”
Ah yes. A “Truther”. She posts her side of the story on her own blog and conveniently forgets to mention her little Truther bleat. She also coldn’t help but throwing in a little threat against Thompson, too. Of course, her blog is full of the kind of crazy you normally get from spending too much time in a basement huffing spray paint, so maybe she can be forgiven for not revealing that little bit of the Truth. Strange, though, a Truther who doesn’t tell the whole Truth, huh?
I’m positive that had Brusk mentioned that bit of her mewling, she wouldn’t have come across as a simple generic “protester”? I’m equally positive that Brusk knows that and did it on purpose. Otherwise, I’d have to consider him incompetent. CNN may do many things, but they don’t hire the truly incompetent to run their political desk. I’d bet money on it. What we’re left with is that Brusk soft-pedaled her Truther lunacy.
Her little episode with Thompson wasn’t in any way a “protest”. It was a crazy person, who has a healthy bit of hostility toward Thompson trying to get some camera time. Apparently, CNN had no problem helping her along.
UPDATE: Greg, of Rhymes with Right, was right next to Whingey Girl and shares his observations about the event.

Guess who was standing right next to her when she launched into her hysterical questioning — ME!
If you watch the video of the event, she posts, you will see a red shirt a couple of times as the camera moves erratically — that’s me.
What I can tell you is that the folks running the event (in a private terminal, not the city airport) tried to ask her to leave, but any time they attempted to get her attention she shouted about them touching her and refused to acknowledge their request. THAT is why the police were brought in.
I heard her say something to the effect of “Why are you touching me?” several times during the taping. I would have laughed like a loon if Fred Thompson had just stopped, looked at her, and said “Do you want me to turn this interview around and we’ll go back home? Is that what you want, young lady??”. She sounded like a pouty kid whose brother kept poking her inthe leg or something.
