It seems the New York Times has thrown in completely on the side of the Islamists with an editorial today that beggars belief. Behold the opening line:
It is time for the United States to leave Iraq, without any more delay than the Pentagon needs to organize an orderly exit.
That’s not a surprising thing to read on the pages of the Times which has handed the Islamists the nitty gritty about tools our government has been using to whack the Islamists everywhere their maniacal little heads pop up on at least three occasions. At least then the paper offered the hope that there would be some classified and effective program it would keep from the head-chopping wackjobs.
Not today. Today, the Times goes from hinting that it should run America’s foreign policy to outright demanding it. Unfortunately, it makes the demand with all the reasoning powers of a cocker spaniel and the rank callousness that only a group of insular limousine liberals can muster.
It’s “final solution” for Iraq is that it prefers to see the region fall into genocide than to keep our troops there one day longer. And yes, I used that phrase on purpose, Godwin’s Law be damned.
I can’t hack and slash my way through the Times’ extended shrug at the great possibility of an unprecedented slaughter, but Jules Crittenden did. His post is a must-read today. Here’s an excerpt.
OK, let’s review. Bloody chaos and genocide preferable to what’s going on now. What’s going on now not discussed in any inconvenient detail. NYT has retreat all figured out, will shares plans with Pentagon. Fighting terrorism works better from a distance. Democrats are “foolish” but so is NYT. Iran, Turkey, etc., should all step up to the plate and get Israel to build a fence around Iraq. And finally, Bush lied, people died.
Makes sense to me. Out now!
UPDATE: Chris Muir gives the Times a well-deserved brush-off.
