No Love for the Mac Peoples?

I’ve long been a fan of Corel’s WordPerfect and have been generally unhappy that most of the world has gone over to Microsoft Word. Corel seems ready to jump out with an interesting collaboration/organization/clip saving program called Lightning, which it has released in a free public beta test. It looks like it could be an awfully useful program, especially for us bloggers. It seems tailor made for folks who clip things from other documents and around the web, which would make a lot of bloggers’ jobs easier.

The only problem is, there’s no native version for the Macintosh. If you’re a Mac user, you’re going to need to run Parallels or Boot Camp (which means an Intel Mac) to run Lightning.

No thanks. If I wanted a sluggish Windows machine, I would still be using my old PC.

Come on, Corel. Get on the stick. You’re marketing Lightning to the creative folks out there. Like it or not, most of those folks are using Macs. Make a program we like, and you’ll sell a bunch.

Well, one more thing to like about you, Jimmie! I've been using wordperfect since 5.1 in dos- gosh is that right? I haven't thought about it lately! I don't have a mac, though my dh is thinking about it for next computer purchase:)

I'm still capable of endearing myself to you, Cassandra!

I go back to version 4.2 of WP and I'd still be using it regularly if my agency hasn't switched over to Word with the rest of the state.

And do try out a Mac. You can get slightly older models (say, the Core Solo Mac Mini like I have) for surprisingly little. Mine works like a wonder. I'm already considering an upgrade to the hard drive (My iTunes seems to be slowly taking over my current hard drive like Demonic Kudzu).
