A Note on the Debate Tonight.

I’m sure this’ll make the news tomorrow at some point, but there are pretty good reasons that Libertarians will never be seen as a serious national party. Ron Paul is one of those reasons. He is frankly clueless when it comes to national policy. Rudy Giuliani (and a couple others) rightly jumped into him with both feet. It would have been a great opportunity for the candidates to show a reasoned and passionate difference between them and the anti-war zealots like Paul.

Oh, and it was a truly boneheaded move for the moderators to step away from a truly interesting discussion on 9/11, foreign policy, and terrorism to ask John McCain a question about…the Confederate flag.

Talk about something that matters exactly not at all! Bad form, Fox News Moderators. Even the crowd had enough common sense to boo the change of subject. I’ll put a chunk of the transcript up as soon as I find it so you can at least read the aborted exchange.

UPDATE: In lieu of a transcript, check out Sister Toldjah’s liveblogging. She’s putting up tons of quotes and really capturing the give and take of the debate very well.
