We Win, They Lose
There aren’t a lot of really important things I talk about here at The Shack. Really, this is just a silly little blog, full of sound and fury, as Paul might say, signifying nothing.
This post, though, is important or it deals with something important. It may be the most important thing, over the long haul.
Whether we like it or not and whether we decide we’re going to fight back or not, we’re in the middle of a war. The folks who are fighting us – call them Islamists, or Muslim Extremists, or Islamofascists – intend to kill as many of us as possible and subjugate the rest of us. They won’t settle for anything less than the absolute destruction of our freedoms which they will replace with one of the most brutal and repressive codes ever seen on Planet Earth.
This is not my opinion. It is fact, backed by years of speeches from hundreds if not thousands of madrassas and found in the words of hundreds of written fatwas. Islamists put in on their television networks, write it into movies and books, and teach it to their children in thousands of schools. We ignore it at our extreme peril.
Today, we have a Democratic party that simply refuses to accept this fact. They prefer to believe that Iraq was some purely discretionary war, sought eagerly by an elite group of bloodthirsty maniacs who were hankering to whack some Arabs regardless of how many American lives it cost. I’m not going to go into how wrong they are because I don’t feel like restating the obvious for the umpteenth time. I will simply say that they are wrong in nearly every detail and they are wrong on purpose. Their wrongness did not come from examining the available information and drawing a different but reasonable conclusion. It comes from a selfish, cynical, calculating desire to win more personal and political power by any means necessary.
They are led by Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid who, I do not hesitate to say, have much blood on their hands. They are lying to us ever day without breaking a sweat. They appear to sleep at night. I honestly don’t know how they do so.
Recently, they led their party in Congress to attempt surrender. It was not a formal surrender, where they were forced to stand in front of the enemy and bow in defeat. In fact, they faced no embarrassment of discomfort at all – not from their fellow party members (save one, and I’m thankful every day for Joe Lieberman) nor from the news organizations who have been cheering them on. They stood in front of the world and said, despite what our military commanders say and despite the evidence of our own eyes, we are doomed to failure in Iraq and we can never have anything but defeat. The war, said Harry Reid, is lost.
That surrender is unacceptable. They are not authorized to give it. The Constitution does not allow them to act as miniature Commanders-in-Chief and they usurped a rightly-elected leader when they did so. They are not entitled to demand timetables of the President. They are not allowed to hang our soldiers – our friends and neighbors and family members – out to dry. They are not allowed to doom an entire nation to the depredations of its evil neighbors.
It is not their place. It is beyond their power. It is undemocratic and unamerican for them to even try what they have done.
And yet they did it without so much as a single pang of guilt. Why?
Because it gains them seats in Congress.
I can’t have that. I don’t know how anyone who lives and loves this nation can have that.
There is a group of folks like me who blog and care enough to bend their attentions to getting your attention. They hope that if enough of us draw together and speak with one voice enough members of Congress will listen and stop the power-hungry before they do any more. They hope that we can deliver one simple message that ought to be obvious but apparently needs to be said loudly and often. I have the same hope and so I have joined them. I sincerely hope that you will do the same.
It doesn’t take a lot of time. Sign the petition – put your name next to mine – and ask a couple other folks to do the same.
Here is the petition in ite entirety.
Please take a moment to add your name to ours. It may seem like not much of anything at all, but it adds up. We have an opportunity to make our small voices large and deliver a simple message:
