Go Get ‘Em, Jeff!!

I love Jeff Foxworthy’s comedy. I think he’s one of the true comedic geniuses working today, and perhaps one of the best who have ever worked.

After hearing this, I respect him a whole lot more. The man lays it on the line, on national television. He’s not hiding behind anything or anyone.

And I can’t disagree with a single word he says. Heck, I just may find myself more a country music fan after hearing this.

Do you the Dixie Chicks were in the audience? How about new country convert Sheryl Crow?
A cutaway to them would have been really funny to me.

UPDATE: Nope. Sheryl Crow was too busy harassing Karl Rove at the White House Correspondents’ dinner.

UPDATE 2: Oliver Willis thinks I’m a hypocrite for praising Foxworthy while criticizing other celebrities for making political statements (not me specifically, but me because I think Foxworthy was perfectly justified in saying what he said). Actually, I criticize celebrities for making ignorant and incorrect political statements. Regardless, what Foxworthy said wasn’t a political statement. It was a statement about music and the folks who like a certain kind of music. He didn’t hit anyone’s political party affilation. He didn’t say whether or not he supported the war or the President. I’m not sure how loving your kids, believing in God, and unabashedly supporting our soldiers at war can be construed as a political statement, but I suppose Willis does. That, I suppose, is a big difference between he and I. Not everything is politics. Some things are right to say simply because they’re right to say.

    Pro-choice, theocracy and anti-war.

That's the _other_ side. What's really pitiful is that it _can_ be construed as a political statement. Pretty incredible, isn't it.

  2. [...] The themes of country music isn’t the sole possession of the Southe either. Maybe the Professor missed this monologue from noted redneck Jeff Foxworthy, but he ought to listen to it. What Foxworthy is talking about isn’t Southern. It’s American. [...]
