Gore to Sponsor Pollution to Promote Awareness of Pollution

Buy concert tickets for Global Warming!

Al Gore’s next gig: concert promoter.

Using popular music to bring attention to his pet issue of global climate change, the former vice president is planning a single-day series of concerts modeled after Live 8.

Gore is scheduled to announce the concerts today in Los Angeles. He’s expected to be joined there by rock stars Jon Bon Jovi and Sting, rap musician Pharrell Williams and media executive Kevin Wall, who served as worldwide executive producer for Live 8, the 2005 concerts that drew attention to African debt relief.

I wonder if Gore is going to release the carbon budget for these shindigs?

There were 11 Live 8 concerts, all around the globe. Those concerts required plenty of equipment that used carbon-emitting energy sources (such as gasoline engines and electricity produced by polluting plants). The entertainers who performed doubtless traveled at least part of the way by airplane, any of which emit more “global warming” gases into the atmosphere in one trip than the average household in a year in most, if not all, of the host nations. I have a hard time imagining that Gore and his people could buy enough “carbon offset” indulgences to pay for the damage to the Earth they would say these pending concerts would do if they weren’t being done for the Cause.

I’d hope that some reporter would ask him just how much carbon his awareness concerts are going to cost.

Of course they'll release no carbon budget, Jimmie! Don't you know that the CO2 guys like Gore emits in his travels is "good" CO2 — it is emitted for "good" causes!
