Obama, the Apostate.
It seems that Insight article about Barak Obama spending a couple few years in an Indonesian madrassa really isn’t all it was cracked up to be.
CNN’s Vause went to Indonesia to check out the school Barack Obama attended, which Insight mag claimed was a madrassa:
Vause: “I’ve been to madrassas in Pakistan, and this school is nothing like that.”
More: “This school was established in 1934 by the Dutch. It has a very broad education. It doesn’t focus on religion. It has a very famous alumni. For example, the grandchildren of Indonesia’s second president attended this school. The current CEO of Garuda Airlines in Indonesia’s national carrier, was also a former student at Besuki Elementary. So this is just a normal elementary school, and there’s a good deal of confusion here how it could be confused as being an Islamic madrassa” (“Situation Room,” 1/22).
In other words, it seems to be the Indonesian equivalent of the pricey prep schools that so many of our politicians attended here in the States. I suppose it doesn’t make for good slinging-mud, though, for the Clinton campaign to release the news that Obama attended a good school in a wealthy neighborhood in Jakarta.
Still, there are a couple interesting questions that could be asked.
It’s clear that Obama spent part of his life as a Muslim and turned from that faith to pursue Catholcism. That makes him, in the eyes of many Muslims, worthy of death. I recall the case of Abdul Rahman, who was arrested in post-Taliban Afghanistan for converting to “Christianity” from Islam. He was sentenced to death and escaped that verdict only after intense pressure from our government. Rahman had to flee the country of his birth and, for some time, was facing the prospect of pleading a form of insanity to escape the hangman’s noose.
I wonder how Obama could possibly deal with nations like Saudi Arabia, Libya, Iran, Afghanistan, and others who would consider him an apostate or insane. I have yet to hear anyone ask him that question.
I wonder how Obama would address the policies of our allies who would not allow anyone to exercise the same freedom of religion that he enjoys. Would he remain silent, enjoying his freedom while millions fel the oppression of the Islamists? Or would he instead be a vocal and effective voice against the oppression that Islam as a state religion forces on far too many?
That would be a very interesting topic for someone to raise to him. I wonder who that brave person will be?

Seems obvious that "the way out" for Obama is to deny he was ever a Muslim. So, if the school was just a rich prep school, what proof do we have that he was a Muslim?
His father was a Muslim. His step-father was a Muslim. He attended Islamic instruction. His middle name is "Hussein" (from a relative of Muhammed) and that is a mark of Muslim. Now a Christian. People have been put to death in Saudi Arabia for much less. In any event, not someone to 'build bridges' with the Islamic world.

get your facts straight – the spelling of his name is Barack. And he is not catholic (nor ever claimed to be)
I didn't say he was Catholic nor that he claimed to be. I said that he pursued Catholicism, which he did as a student in a Catholic school.
Neither one is particularly pertinent to his current situation, though. Wouldn't you agree?
