Not to Worry, Folks. It’s Just an “Internal Struggle”!
The war against the Islamists goes on, not only with bullets and suicide bombs, but with words and ideas.
The Transportation Security Administration – created after 9/11 to safeguard America’s airports – is providing Islamic sensitivity training to 45,000 airport security officers so they’ll know what to expect when Muslims fly from the U.S. to Saudi Arabia to participate in the annual “hajj,” or pilgrimage to Mecca.
“We put out information telling everyone that hajj is coming; this is the time frame; individuals are going to be traveling with these types of items,” TSA spokesman Darrin Kayser told the State Department’s USINFO Web site Tuesday. Calling it “cultural sensitivity training,” Kayser added that airport security officials need “just to be aware that they may also be praying.”
Yes, indeed, they might. But so what?
Ironically, just last month six Muslim imams were ejected by federal authorities from a US Airways flight in Minneapolis because they were deemed a potential security threat. Among the various behaviors that unnerved fellow passengers was the group’s prayers in the airport prior to their flight.
That’s simply not true. What “unnerved” fellow passengers in part were that the prayers included rather loud anti-American sentiment.
In fact, no one really cares if people choose to pray in an airport or on a plane. I pray on the plane as it is taking off and landing. I pray for a safe flight, for God to grant wisdom and skill to the pilots, and for other things as well. But I do not pray loudly nor do I include hate and threats in my prayers. If I did I would fully expect my fellow passengers to become “unnerved” and the authorities to take action.
After all, if I were to so much as joke about blowing up an airplane at the ticket counter, I’d be slapped into handcuffs and taken off to jail. CAIR has demanded treatment that I would not get and that you would not get. That, folks, is simply wrong and dangerous. We need to be able to discern between proper religious activity and activity that we know has presaged murderous activity on airplanes in the past.
The TSA would rather not make that distinction. Thanks to their weak-kneed capitulation, the folks we have hired to make life-and-death security decisions on our behalf are learning…well…nonsense.
Brian Humphrey, Customs and Border Patrol’s executive director of field operations, assured CAIR officials that agents do not single out Muslim passengers for special screening and that they must undergo a mandatory course in Muslim sensitivity training. The course teaches agents that Muslims believe jihad is an “internal struggle against sin” and not holy warfare.
Oh sure. Ask Nick Berg, Daniel Pearl, Fabrizio Quattrocchi, or any of the others who have been murdered in the name of the “internal struggle against sin”. Ask Salman Rushdie who still lives in fear for his life thanks to the “internal struggle against sin” demanded from Ayatollah Khomeini. How about we check in with the Danish cartoonists whose lives are still under threat by those following their “internal struggle for sin”. Pim Fortuyn? Theo van Gogh?
Let us ask the 3000 American killed as a result of Osama bin Laden’s “internal struggle against sin” whether the TSA’s course is an accurate definition of the word “jihad”.
Better yet, let us ask the hundreds of thousands of Islamists around the world who are killing those who do not believe as they do whether their struggle against sin is internal or not. If you’re a woman, you should probably not ask, though. Their internal struggle demands that you not speak directly to them or they are allowed to beat or kill you. If you’re gay, I advise that you not stand next to any easily-toppled walls. Also, it’s probably not a good idea to wear any cross pendants. Definitely nix the Star of David pendants, too. Actually, if you’re Jewish, don’t even bother coming along to ask.
On account of the “internal struggle” and all.
I find it amazing that, given all the easily-observed history we have about the enemies we face and the wealth of evidence that demonstrates that CAIR works on the side of our avowed enemies, we would continue to bow to their demands. Every day our government moves closer and closer to the dhimmi submission demanded of all unbelievers by Islam. And CAIR is very much working toward that end.
Now, so is the TSA.
