Looking Back at History
Maybe cracking open a history book would help some folks regain their good senses.
The Iraq war is about to reach a benchmark that puts it on par with World War II by one measure: Sunday, it will have lasted the same number of days — 1,347 —that the United States fought the Axis.
Of course, we haven’t left Germany or Japan yet either. (Or Korea, for that matter).
On a related note, at the current rate the US military death toll will surpass that of the 1.5-year long Mexican War in another 10 or 12 years or so.
And, apparently, we’re about to expand our bsaes in South Korea. Which is bad, or something.
So, you know, the situation is dire. Or so the MSM keeps yelling at me thanks to cherry-picked factoids like that one.
I wonder how long it’s been since the USA Today ran a story about how many terrorists our soldiers have killed in Iraq or how many days it’s been since terrorists slaughtered anyone here in America? A while I’ll bet.

It's like the stories the old folks always tell about how tough they had it. they used to walk to school in hurricanes and blizzards. It's true they were much tougher. many people died in their wars and it made them appreciate life. Our generation is just too spoiled and can not take hardship. or sacrifice. The extremely low death rate of Americans in Iraq seem like a lot to pampered, tofu eating leftists.
I'm inclined to agree with you on every point.
By the way, I sent you an e-mail a while back. Did you ever get it?
