Apparently the HuffPuffers and a few other leftist bloggers are all het up because CNN decided to edit out a comment from Bill Maher. Maher was a guest on the Larry King show and, at one point, said that RNC Chair Ken Mehlman was gay.

Sister Toldjah makes a couple excellent points about the leftist propensity for outing gay people whose political beliefs they don’t share, masquerading it as anger over that person’s “hypocrisy”.
Me, I don’t care much about Bill Maher. He’s found a way to turn his petty hate into cold, hard cash and that’s okay. It’s a big, free country in which we live and there’s plenty of room in it for those with teeny Grinch hearts.
What does matter to me is the reckless flinging around of the word “gay”. It wasn’t that long ago that virtually every Democrat who could get to a television camera or newspaper was lecturing the rest of us about how someone’s private life was none of our business. Funny how that standard has changed, isn’t it?
There are probably volumes that could be written about this sort of hypocrisy, but I’m not the man to write it. It’s just not in me to rail against the mind-bending convolutions of logic and decency that a guy like Maher must undergo in order to appear on camera every week. It has to take a toll on him and, in time, he’ll get his due.
Here’s the thing. We live in a country that, for better or worse, treats sexuality different fron just about any other behavior. Most of us would gladly embrace someone who used to be a heavy drug user, but who mended his ways before we’d accept someone who was really into S&M even though the latter is a perfectly legal activity that plenty of folks enjoy thoroughly.
Think about it. Who would get the stranger look from you – someone who spent time in prison for boosting a car when he was a teenager or someone who went to wife-swapping parties on Friday nights?
The leftist legions enjoy tossing the word “gay” around because, really, they have not one ounce of regard for gay people whatsoever. They use it as an insult, hoping that it will hurt the person they seek to “out” and damage their life in a real way. Is that respect? I think not.
This CNN flap is the typical leftist tempest in a teapot. The deeper issue of what the left really thinks of gays certainly is not.
One last thing to keep in mind. Not a couple months ago, a Democratic operative circulated a list that purported to out a number of gay Republican Congressional staffers. Not a single prominent Democrat really denounced the move, which is not really news to me. What did strike me was that, so far as I know, not one of those staffers got an ounce of pressure from any religious group to whom the list was leaked to resign. Neither did their bosses. The story died a quiet death, after being covered by the usual MSM blizzard when it was first released.
So tell me, who truly respect gays in America, the left or the right?
