Happy Birthday Dragon!

Dragon Magazine is 30 years old today.

That means absolutely nothing to most of you. To a few, though, I’m guessing your reaction was “has it been that long”?

Yep. Thirty years, which is a long time for a magazine to keep chugging along.

I admit, it’s been some time since I’ve read a Dragon, mostly since I didn’t care for the pretty weak stuff that Wizards of the Coast was putting out under the Dungeons and Dragons name. The magazine’s being published by Paizo now and the articles at least seem to have a bit more heft and utility to them.

That and they’ve added the superlative Order of the Stick comic to the magazine. For you old-timers, this is a return to a pretty high level of comic strip in the back of the magazine. I’m talking Phil Foglio or Larry Elmore quality here.

Good stuff.

John Kovalik (who is right up there with OOtS for quality) commemorates the event in song.
