Ronald D. Moore and David Eick, You Are Golden Gods!

Oh my dear sweet holy crapweasel.

I have watched this week’s Battlestar Galactica and I have not seen so much pure, concentrated awesome in one hour of dramatic television show ever, in my entire life.

Never. Ever.

I actually, at two separate points, cranked both fists into the air and screamed, “Yes! Yes!! YES!!!”, then applauded my television set.

It’s as if Ronald D. Moore and David Eick handed us all a big cold glass of something and said, “Folks. This is concentrated awesome. Normally, I’d water this down just a little bit for you but not this week. Take a deep breath, drink it all down, and try not to die from it, okay?”

Amazing.

There will be chances several times this week to see a replay on the Sci-Fi Channel and, I believe, the USA Network. When it comes on, if you have not seen it, you simply must. If you do, you will see an entire cast of actors turning their acting chops up to 11 and keeping it there for an entire show. Even normally low-key Edward James Olmos.

Especially Edward James Olmos. There was a five-minute block right about mid-way through the episode when he was acting with such amazing intensity that he seemed to glow.

And the last six minutes is enough, assuming you know anything about the show at all, to simultaneously tear out your heart (“Not all of them….”) and pump your fist in silent exultation (“Adama! Adama! Adama!”).

And in the end, we are left very much where we were before so much had happened (Even with a moustacheless Adama). Except we have far fewer people than when we all came to New Caprica. And far more questions.

UPDATE: Welcome to everyone who’s come here thanks to my very first Hawkalanche! Thanks for coming by. 1. I do not have cable, sigh.

It's also available on iTunes. "No cable" is not an excuse, at least in the US.

Go. See. The series is outstanding, and so far this season has been extraordinary.

Like the Miss, no cable here. I stumbled on the Flight from New Caprica on the hotel TV purely by accident and knowing hardly anything about the backstory–but still ended up thinking, "darn good show"!
