Wake Up. Please?

Just a couple things of note here without much commentary.

First, it looks like it was a Democratic staffer who decided to give bits of classified information from the National Intelligence Estimate to the New York Times (via Tigerhawk).

Second, it appears that CNN has not only noticed that al-Qaeda has a plan for using our media to spread its propaganda but also has decided that it’s going to eagerly participate in the plan.

What I can’t figure out if why we tolerate this.

We have known facts in our hand.

Fact #1: There is a large and coordinated group of Muslims who want to destroy us or make us surrender to Islam. They have been openly waging war against us for about 25 years. They make no apology for their actions. Indeed, they openly use the word “war”.

Fact #2: There is an extremely influential group of people here in America who refuse to understand Fact #1 and who wish to act as if there is no war at all. Further, this group wishes all of us to act as they act and are willing to do anything at all to make sure that happens, including breaking the law, lying right to your face, and committing acts of physical assault.

Fact #3: The MSM has the free will to report whatever news they wish, in whatever manner they wish. Our major media outlets have chosen to make bargains with butchers in return for favorable treatment, have routinely neglected to report on the good progress of our war against the Islamists without “balancing” it with bad news, and reporting bad news in depth with long commentary without “balancing” it with any positive news. They consider this “objective” reporting.

Fact #4: There is a surprising historical illiteracy in America that precludes many from making informed observations about current events. That does not stop them from doing so, even from Capitol Hill and the studios of major television news networks. As an interesting exercise, read up on the Tet Offensive, then watch how the President’s statement last weekend has been reported.

Given that these facts (and I call them such because they have been substantiated by numerous incidents and quotes to bear them out) exist, I can not begin to understand how my countrymen ignore them. It’s not as if there are persuasive arguments to refute any of them. I’ve seen hundreds of people try. None has come even close. Every one of them eventually has to resort to faith and/or insult, or simply admit that they had been wrong.

And there’s an election less than a month away.
