No, Variety, it’s not very much like “The Reagans”. Not very much at all.

The Path to 9/11″ is looking a lot like “The Reagans, Part II.”
Bill Clinton loyalists are demanding wholesale changes to the upcoming miniseries — and while ABC is making some snips, the alterations, insiders say, may not please the Dems.

But a bombshell decision may happen anyway: Sources close to the project say the network, which has been in a media maelstrom over the pic, is mulling the idea of yanking the mini altogether.

This is the spin you’re going to hear all weekend: that Democrats now are doing what Republicans did then.

Except for one important thing. Republican Senators did not threaten the broadcast license of the network. They did not strut around like mafia dons saying things like “Nice public airwaves you have here. Be a shame if something like a hearing were to happen to them”.

What Harry Reid and Dick “US soldiers are genocidal killers” Durbin, et. al. are doing is the textbook definition of censorship. And they have no sense of shame nor, apparently, of common sense, in threatening ABC.

Oh, and one other thing. That Reagan picture did air, on Showtime. So it didn’t get the treatment that the Senatorial Thug Crew want to give this movie.

Me? I could care less about the movie. I’m sure it will be a fine dramatization and that it will help some people remember, for a week or so, how badly all of us slept on the terrorist war that was already being waged against us. I’m sure that there will be a few scenes that aren’t historically accurate. That’s what happens when you adapt a book or three that aren’t entirely factual themselves.

On September 11th, I am going to have far better things to do with my time. I do not see the point in waching some docudrama put together by a network whose news department refuses to show historical and real images from that day five years ago because it fears that you and I will go on a Muslim-killing rampage. I won’t give my time to a network that already treats me like a hyperviolent moron. It won’t happen.

UPDATE: The Anchoress has what I’d say are the first and last words on this matter, except for perhaps these two posts from Villanous Cassandra. They say all that needs to be said about this tempest in a thimble.
