It’s Hell in a Handbasket Day!

If it were a dreary rainy day today, and I hadn’t just gotten in from church, I would be an awfully depressed man.

It really is one thing to know that a dedicated horde of Muslims is working every day to kill as many of my friends and family as they possibly can.

It’s quite another to know that they are being actively assisted by international media outlets and fully supported by a majority of Democrats.

Let’s run the stories.

First, remember the story that ran aftre the election last year where the New York Times decided to publish the details of a top-secret and legal surveillance program that was listening into phone calls made to numbers we knew were associated with foreign terrorists? Well, as it turns out, the editor of that paper, Bill Keller, was lying through his teeth about wy he published when it did. I’ll let Captain Ed tell you about it:

Left-wing pundits and bloggers have insisted that Keller spiked the story to keep George Bush in office. Keller, however, has a different take on his decision. He insists that the news would have likely helped Bush rather than hurt him, and the public support for this program after its delayed revelation last December supports that analysis. John Kerry and the Democrats had castigated Bush for the lack of visible effort to find and track terrorists, and the program’s exposure would have forced Kerry to recant and suddenly argue that Bush had been too enthusiastic about fighting terrorism, a tough pirouette to execute in a grueling presidential campaign.

In the end, the final version of the story got prepared just days before the election, and Keller argues that a release at that point would have been “unfair” to all parties. It took several weeks for all of the political dust to settle once the article did come out. He may have a point, but then two related events took place: he delayed the release for over a year, and then Keller lied about the timing when he published it.

Remember, that Keller’s asertion all along was that his decsion to publish was a grueling one determined at last by his belief that it was vital that the American people learned about the NSA program. Apparently, it’s wasn’t so vital that he couldn’t hold it to help his candidate in the election.

Continuing with the “media fighitng against us” theme, Ace is running two posts with a host of links about the doctored photos that have appeared in Reuters news stories and elsewhere (including the New York Times) along with a little tidbit about Muslim charities taking money that Americans donated to help Pakistani earthquake victims and diverting it to the recent airplane bombing plot in England. He’s rounding up plenty of news from Charles Johnson who is well ahead of everyone on this scandal.

The biggest story Ace has found via Johnson is an open admission from a professional photojournalist that he witnessed Lebanese posing dead bodies, including digging some up from their graves, so that journalists could get more gory pictures.

This is the final nail in the MSM credibility coffin as far as I’m concerned. It is one thing to want to gin up some extra gory photographs in order to get more eyes on their newspaper or television station. It’s quite another to make sure those fraudulent photos only happen on one side of a conflict.

Put another way: How come Reuters, New York Times, or the Los Angeles Times never managed to fake up photographs of dead Israeli citizens? How come they never printed one faked-up photograph of the Haifa skyline after a Hezbollah rocket attack?

How come it’s only the Lebanese/Hezbollah side that gets the super-sympathetic fakeries?

Maybe, though, the MSM outlets feel as if they’re serving their audience well. After all (again, via Ace), it seems that a majority of voting Democrats want to see President Bush fail so that their “side” can win.

Democracy and a stable Iraq? A non-nuclear Iran? The defeat of international terrorists? They all come in second place to seeing a Democrat in the White House, no matter what that means. I’ll let Ace say what I’m thinking right now:

When I say “Dishonest liberals claim” that this is just “One Lone Nut,” that’s what I mean. I don’t mean to imply that all liberals want the War on Terror to fail just so they can get a President in the White House. I’ve personally witnessed liberals — even left-liberals — arguing quite heatedly with fellow liberals on similar points. I suspect the heat there was partly due to how incredbily political damaging this sort of talk is for the left, but there was genuine revulsion over the sentiment itself.

However: Those liberals who have for so longed claimed this was merely a “fringe” position, having nothing to do with mainstream liberals or the Democratic Party, only a phenomenon of the fringe anarchist ultraleft?

You are liars. You always have been. You’ve heard your fellow liberals say just this sort of thing, frequently. 51% of Democrats — not even just liberals! — cop to believing this. It is simply not credible that you don’t encounter such people frequently, or that you have somehow managed to be out of earshot when they were declaring these vile wishes.

You are liars. Period. End of sentence, end of line, end of file.

He is exactly right. This is not a fringe belief. Let that sink in a while.

Most Democrats who vote would rather see our economy go into the tank than see George Bush succeed.

Most Democrats would rather see our soldiers defeated and our soldiers killed in greater numbers than see George Bush succeed.

Most voting Democrats would rather see you or me killed by a terrorist attack than see George Bush succeed.

Happy Sunday.
