Shut Up and…well…just Shut Up.

The Dixie Chicks really are insufferable twits. It’s nice that they feel free enough to make their insufferability public. It makes my decision to buy another one of their albums an easy one.

It’s never a smart thing for a group whose last album didn’t do all that well go out of their way to alienate not only their core audience but casual music listeners, too. Then again, no one every accused the Dixie Chicks of being particularly bright.

Petulant foot-stomping. I guess she knew that trying to reheat past controversy would earn her a spot in the news. I think the most telling quote was that they've lowered their sights a bit:

"I'd rather have a small following of really cool people who get it, who will grow with us as we grow and are fans for life, than people that have us in their five-disc changer with Reba McEntire and Toby Keith," Maguire said. "We don't want those kinds of fans. They limit what you can do."

Soon they'll be able to jam with their fans in a basement apartment while passing a bong. But at least they won't be bothered by all those "other fans" that "limit what they can do".

Yeah, Mack…always smart to tick off your fans right when your career is on the edge of dumping back into obscurity.
