We May Sleep, But She Sleeps Forever.

As a further reminder of who exactly it is that we’re fighting in our World War against the Islamists, here is the kidnapping, debasement, torture, murder, and defilement of an Iraqi journalist.

Only the dangerously foolish, willfully ignorant, or those working on the side of the Islamists could equivocate after reading what was done to Ms. Bahjat, to the cries of “Ahallu akbar”.

Yet some will, and many of us will listen attentively then try to go back to sleep without spending a single moment haunted by Bahjat’s memory. Hopefully, not most of us. But these days, it looks like my hope is vain.

Fact-Check Update: Rusty Shackleford reports that the man who wrote the original story for the Times, and a whole lot of us by extension, were hoaxed. The video he saw was a low-resolution copy of the torture and murder of a Nepalese man in 2004 by a group called Ansar al-Sunna, which had once been part of a terrorist organization that operated in Iraq with the support of both Saddam Hussein and al-Qaeda. It had been recently circulated on jihadist message boards as the execution video of Ms. Bahjat who was, in fact, “merely” shot in cold blood.
