Jimmie Around the Country, or Hey, Why Hasn’t He Posted Anything this Week?
Well, folks, this will probably be my last post for a couple of weeks.
As I’ve mentioned before, I’ll be on the road until March 27th. Though I’ll be staying in places with complementary internet access, I don’t actually own a laptop, and I won’t be in the immediate area of any public computers that I know of. So The Shack will be dark until I get back. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the presence of mind to line up a guest-bloger or two. Besides, most of the bloggers I know would be stepping down in traffic to post here anyway.
However, that doesn’t mean you can’t find me at times and say Hello.
On March 12th, I’ll be a panelist on a blogging-related discussion at the South by Southwest Interactive Media Festival in Austin, TX. Our topic is on blogging civility and I’ very pleased to be part of the group. I owe great thanks to my friend Grace Davis, who is the sole reason I was not only invited to participate, but also for my getting to Austin in the first place. I’ll be arriving in Austin on Saturday evening, have a couple rather posh soirees to attend (well, okay…not exactly posh, nor are there more than one that I know of, and I’ll be tired because I have to get up at O’Dark Thirty to fly out there, but still…) and will be leaving in the early evening on Sunday. But if you’re there, grab a seat in the discussion and make sure to say hello afterwards. I’d love to meet you.
My next leg of Jimmie’s World Tour takes me to Los Angeles, CA on Sunday evening. I’ll be there on a secret mission Monday and Tuesday and I’ll leave for home on Wednesday. Someof you might have a notion about why I’ll be there. For the rest of you, you’ll have to wait until some time after I get back to get any details. Unfortunately, those are the conditions of my going out there.
When I get back Wednesday, I’ll have a quick breather at home (from where I hope to do a quick trip update on the blog). I leave for Pennsylvania and New York City on Thursday morning on the first ever choir tour for the Chamber Choir of the College of Southern Maryland. There’s a schedule at the link, but I”ll repost it here so that if you’re in the area, you can come hear one of the finest choirs in the region. I’m not just saying that because I’m a member of the group. We’re really that good.
