British historian David Irving is to appeal against the prison term imposed by an Austrian court for denying the Holocaust of European Jewry.
Irving, who appeared stunned by the three-year sentence, told reporters: “I’m very shocked.”He had pleaded guilty to the charge which arose from comments he made in Austria in 1989 denying the existence of gas chambers at Auschwitz.
Austria is one of 11 countries with laws against denying the Holocaust.
Yep, folks, in the Western World, you can go to jail for your speech. If Muslim Imams hae their way, any representation of a religious symbol used in a satirical or humorous way will land you in prison in Europe, too.
Thank goodness for our American backward cowboy ways that allow us the right of free speech.
