Elected Terrorist Begs World, “Please Don’t Stop Giving Us Money!”
Hamas Leader Urges Continued Funding
GAZA CITY, Jan. 30 — A senior leader of Hamas urged the European Union and other international donors Monday to continue funding the Palestinian Authority once the radical Islamic group enters the government a few weeks from now.
“We are asking you to cooperate with our mission by keeping an open mind,” Ismail Haniyeh, the top candidate on Hamas’ national list, told journalists at his house in a beachside refugee camp here. “We are asking you to respect these results and respect the will of the Palestinians.”
I’d say that countries planning to cut off aid to the PA are respecting the will of the Palestinians. I’m not so sure that you’re going to get a lot of countries, even in Europe, willing to “go along” with Hamas’ mission – the complete destruction of Israel.
Now if Hamas starts backpedaling from that, dismantles its armed groups, forswears violence against Israel, and removes that pesky little by-law that calls for said destruction, I’d imagine that the money would start to flow again. It takes more than an election to make a legitimate government, no matter what former U.S. President puts his big sloppy kiss on the results.
Until Hamas drops the “death to Israel” part of its platform, and I seriously doubt that it will, Palestiniant will just have to live with the knowledge that they’ve chosen very, very poorly.
Elections have consequences.
