More, More, More for the Government

Does this seem right to you?

WASHINGTON – States now spend more on health care for the poor than they do on elementary and secondary education, a policy group said Thursday in its annual review of efforts to deal with the growing problem of the uninsured.

Does it make sense to you that our state governments now less money to help people do something they largely can’t do on their own than something they largely can?

I’m continually baffled by the notion that the government has any place whatsoever in health care. I don’t understand the reasoning required to get to that position and I’m not sure I ever will.

Look at what’s happening here. Our governments are quite happily gobbling up our responsibilities and essentially “taking care” of us from virtually the beginning of our lives to the end. What is the result? As the article states, our employes have decided that they don’t need to pay for health insurance as any sort of perk. Why should they? The perk costs them money and it’s icnreasingly worthless as an incentive given that you can get government-dole healthcare anyhow. What’s happened in education, in charity work, and in law enforcement is now happening in healthcare. We are so used to the government’s intrusion that we don’t even bother to pay attention. Like a frog slowly boiling to death, we barely notice that more and more of our money is being tossed into horribly inefficient programs and more of our daily business now belongs to the government lock, stock, and barrel.
