I’m Back and Stuff.
Well, that was an entertaining day without Internet Access, wasn’t it? Apparently there was a problem with my ISP’s router which left me without access until late this morning. But I’m back. Yay!
I missed passing along a couple interesting stories and I’ll catch up on those now.
First, looks like Mayor Councilman-for-Life Marion Barry’s back in the hot water. According to the Washington Post, Barry tested positive for cocaine back in the fall, which could mean that he’s violated the terms of his probation and could do some jail time. It also makes you wonder if those itinerant youths who robbed him a few days ago were just there to carry groceries.
I also missed – though I heard it on the radio – Jude Alito’s wife leaving her husband’s confirmation hearings in tears after a couple questioning sessions, notably from Ted Kennedy, that more than insinuated that Alito was a bigot. Though, if you read the story, there’s precious little mention of Kennedy’s harangues and the article reads as if Senator Graham had caused it with his softball question. That’s bad reporting. More than that, it’s deficient and slanted reporting. But we’re talking the AP and the Post here, so what do you expect?
On another point, I think if there were any doubts that Alito has the proper judicial demeanor, they would have been dispelled entirely by his rather calm answers to Kennedy’s inane questioning. Had it been me, I would have corked off on him. But that’s just one reason I’m not a high-ranking Federal Judge.
One last thing. It’s been mentioned that my comment span gatekeeper is being a bit…sensitive. I’ve looked at the settings and set them to “Normal” instead of “Maximum Security Prison Guard”, so commenting shouldn’t be such an arduous process.

Kennedy should be on display at the National Zoo. He's that odd.
How do the people of D.C. explain their inability to elect adults to local office? And they want to be a State? LOL
