Blanco Goes to Dykeland

| January 10, 2006 | Comments (0)

Governor Blanco along with other officials from Louisiana are in the Netherlands studying that nation’s food control systems. Hopefully they’ll learn some lessons they can apply to the Gulf Coast.

Here are a few lessons I’d hope she would have learned already.

  • Don’t steal the levy money.
  • Build the whole levy, not just the part above ground.
  • If the levies fail, get your citizens the heck out of the way of the flood.
  • There’s no crying in hurricanes.

If she’s learned those lessons (and there’s no indication that she has given her Congressional testimony, but let’s stay hopeful, okay?), then she ought to bring back some very useful information from a nation that has learned how to live well under sea level.
