The Shack’s 2005 Weblog Awards Endorsements: The Ecosystem
NZ Bear is a blogger who had an idea: why not set up a ranking system that orders blogs in terms of how many folks link to them, and how many unique visitors each gets? Thus was born the TTLB Ecosystem. Blogs are ranked from Number 1 to number….well…whatever. Big blogs, the Popular Folks are at the top and the rest of us get all the linky love we can and hope to move up the ladder.
Ecosystem Based
Best of the Top 250 Blogs: Jon, McQ, and Dale at QandO have, bar none, the best libertarian blog on the net. They’ve expanded into a webzine, the New Libertarian, and have been by themselves dragging the name of libertarianism out of the lunacy displayed by the Libertarian Party the past eight years. A good second-place choice would be Dean’s World. Dean Esmay is a long-time favorite read of mine and his site has only gotten stronger since he’s added several guest bloggers.
Best of the Top 251 – 500 Blogs: Never let it be said that women can’t or don’t blog. Two of the very best bloggers out there today are in this category, Sister Toldjah and Florida Cracker. Sister T is every bit as smart as she is beautiful and Donnah can go from writing about national issues to focusing on her own Florda neighborhood to giving love to an Allman in the blink of an eye. Neither should be missed.
Best of the Top 501 – 1000 Blogs: MacStansbury.org is a site I’ve discovered only recently thanks to a couple lovely women whose sites I read often. I have to say, I’m hooked. You may find yourself hooked, too.
Best of the Top 1001 – 1750 Blogs: Did you remember to vote for me today? I’d very much like it because I’m up against the formidable (and gorgeous!) Rightwingsparkle. MaxedOutMama (a great place for into on the Avian Flu, among other things), and The Glittering Eye (a great name, by the way!). So please, vote for me every day.
Best of the Top 1751 – 2500 Blogs: I like Cam Edwards a lot. He’s a blogger and a radio show host and a proud husband and father. I imagine if I were a radio host, I’d be a lot like him.
Best of the Top 2501 – 3500 Blogs: SusiePie is a relative newcomer to the blogging world, but she’s making an impact already. She has a design by the aforementioned Dizzy Girl that simple and doesn’t get in the way of her clear writing. She dabbles in politics and life as a wife and mother (okay, she’s not a mother yet. But when she it, she’ll be a great one!) with a delicate and insighful touch. She’s one of my new daily favorites.
Best of the Top 3501 – 5000 Blogs: Three words: Feisty Republican Whore. If you can’t enjoy her posts, your enjoyment-thingie is broken (and I’m sure she could help, for a nominal fee). I say this not only because I’m a new addition to her exclusive “to-do” list. If she’s not your sort of fare, then Garfield Ridge is well worth your vote.
Best of the Top 5001 – 6750 Blogs: I have to admit, I just discovered The Noonz Wire because of this contest, but I very much like what I see. Pick your poison here, as you wish.
Best of the Top 6751 – 8750 Blogs: It can’t be all politics and fighting. Sometimes it’s just life and what you make of it which is exactly what the D-Flat Chime Bar gives you. This is another newly-discovered gem I think you’ll like. Again, it’s voter’s choice here.
Best of the Rest of the Blogs (8751+): I don’t know a thing about any of the blogs here, but I’m certainly willing to accept endorsements.
So that’s it. Now you have much blog-fodder and plenty of edifying reading for the week, or month, or year. The trick is, don’t get overwhelmed and vote every day.
Especially for me. ![]()

back when I was first getting into blogging, I followed the link to this site, and saw the banner to the 2004 Weblog Awards, and started following those people in there. what's funny is, now I'm starting to see other people doing the same thing to me. it's great.
thanks for the endorsement!
Anytime, MacS. You really do have a great place and I'm honestly sorry for mistaking you for a woman.
Hey Jimmie – Thanks for the plug! I'm actually not a mother yet, but hope to be sooner rather than later, so no biggie.
Whoops! That was, to paraphrase Mr. Paul Anka, loose crap. Consider it fixed, Susie.
ZenPundit Mark Safranski says that the 1000-1750, like the Middleweight boxing weight division, is the toughest and most competitive. I think that's about right.
Of course, I'd have endorsed The Sundries Shack in this category except for one tiny detail…
And I'm glad you like the name. I'm surprised I've never been asked about it.
Thanks, Jimmie. As it happens, I'd already voted for you from work today. Now I'm home, so……
Hey, I wonder what would happen if I…..:)
Dave, I expect that I'll get your second-place endorsement. And yea, I noticed hw freaking tough the category is!
It kind of stinks that now that NZ Bear has rejiggered the Ecosystem whosmatron I'm not even in that category anymore.
Jon – I can't say for sure but I've asked that very question.
Hey Jimmie, thanks for the plug! One of the things I was hoping for out of these awards is that maybe a few new people might find me and become readers. Thanks for the kind words, and I hope you stop by every so often. I know I'll be back here for sure and my votes are coming your way for the rest of the competition.
Now, I'll take a Charleston Chew, a bag of BBQ Corn Nuts and a red Gatorade…
ooh! just stopped by to see who linked me – thanks for the support.
just for the record, i'm ranked 4786 in the ecosystem now. not that i'm counting or anything.
ahem.
Noonz Wire: 2005 Weblog Awards Finalist!
Thanks to Jimmie of The Sundries Shack for the endorsement! The Shack is a finalist in the Best of the Top 1001 – 1750 Blogs category. It’s also a good read, so give ‘em your vote.
You should take a gander at who all nominated you.

Congrats for making the finals!
Sorry for the duplicate. Stupid internet connection tonight.
I noticed a certain Robbieness to my nomination.
