McGruder Takes the White Man’s Money but Hates the White Man

This does tick me off.

I was watching Cartoon Network’s “Adult Swim” last week when a commercial for their newest and most hyped show came on.

The scene showed a party of rich, fat, white people when a young black boy I recognized as Huey from Aaron McGruder’s “Boondocks” comic strip walked up to a microphone and said:

Jesus was black, Ronald Reagan was the Devil, and the government is lying to you about 9/11.

Oh great. That’s exactly what I want – liberal bulls**t shoved down my throat during a commercial break. Gee, thanks Cartoon Network.

What deal with the Devil (or, as he likes to call him, Ronald) has McGruder done to get this series? Was the guy who writes Zippy unavailable? Couldn’t Adult Swim get Mary Worth to sign a multi-year deal?

Who out there in America actually believes that what we need – what burns in our hearts – is a television series made by a lying racist? Well, I mean outside of Hollywood, that is.

Come on, Adult Swim. You can give us Robot Chicken and Aqua Teen Hunger Force, which are consistently funny television shows. This is the best you can do now – retreading a comic strip that gets its best press when it savages a successful black woman for not being black enough and who says proudly that “I don’t give a f*** about what white people think”.

My prediction is that “Boondocks” will do well for about a season on nothing more than the controversy it’s going to cause, then will fizzle into nothing and be replaced by DragonBall Z: The Next Generation or some other carbon-copy anime series.

I’m looking forward to the day when no one gives a f*** about what Aaron McGruder thinks.

The problem is with the moron executives at the network. They have somehow equated anti-establishment controversy with humor. I could see how some people may believe that South Park is the same thing, but South Park's "take-no-prisoners" success really is "take-NO-prisoners." And that is what makes it funny.

  2. Cartoon Networks Racist?

Not happy with the new Boondocks cartoon on Cartoon Network here….

I saw the garden party episode of the Boondocks. I laughed so hard that I told all of my friends about the show. I found it to be very controversial and at the same time enjoyable and informative. It amazes me that people compare this show to South Park. But they consider South Park funny and this commentary simply liberal bulls*^t. Although South Park's messages are varied, the Boondocks supplies a simple direct message that portrays the views of a limited set of minorities. So what's the difference? I'm not sure. They are both provide a message and they are both funny. Because the Boondocks deals with race as a major issue (something most people do not want to face or believe), it's bull*^t. Maybe the purpose of the show was to make people aware of others with this simple minded view. But of course, South Park is funny with characters like Chef and Token. And the Boondocks is bulls*&t. I think many people felt the same way about Dave Chappelle at first. But wait, that show is funny too.
