Set Your Computers to “Stream”!
If you are interested in hearing spirited and intelligent defense of US foreign policy and of the War in Iraq, then there are two events happening over the next couple days that should interest you.
Well, I say “events” but I mean “a couple hours of listening to smart people verbally eviscerate people whose egos are orders of magnitude larger than their intelligences”.
The first takes place tonight. Christopher Hitchens will debate British MP George Galloway on the Iraq War. There will be a live webcast, thanks to KPFT 90.1 FM.
Tomorrow night features another horrible mismatch as Victor Davis Hanson and Arianna Huffington will debate the topic “War and Empire”. There will also be a webcast available courtesy of Grand Valley State University (thanks to lgf for the pointer).
Hanson and Hitchens both are supremely articulate and rate among the most adroit and thorough writers working today. They’re matched against people who, honestly, should not be ont he stage with them. Still, I expect that hearing Hitchens and Hanson dismantle the trite platitudes of the anti-war left ought to be educational.
Hell, I just want to hear them beat the snot out of Galloway and Huffington, two people I probably wouldn’t spit on if they were on fire.
