A Little Help Here? Very Little Indeed.

| August 31, 2005 | Comments (3)

I’ve been paying close attention to what nations have publicly offered help to America in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

Color me underwhelmed.

Today, we have reports that Israel, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Russia, and Venezuela (Hugo Chavez? Are you kidding me?) have offered assistance. The people of Switzerland, according to the US Embassy there, have flooded the phones wanting to know how they can donate to help.

That’s it thus far.

Thanks, world. We can use the help, but we’re sure as hell not going to crawl to you begging for it. Just know that some of us are watching and noting who our friends really appear to be.
