Last Post, August 22nd?

I’m here. I’m okay.

I know I haven’t posted a thing for the past couple days, and, trust me, it’s not because there aren’t interesting things happening. I’ve had a couple things going on that have taken precedence.

School starts Monday, and in anticipation of that I needed to take two Departmental Exams before I could enroll in the class I need to take which works out to taking two finals exams in a Music Theory class. Needless to say, I’ve been a bit anxious, since I’m a relative latecomer to formal theory.

I took the first class today. I’m fairly sure I passed it. Then again, I could just be overthinking what I did in the section of the test where I had to do part-writing. My answers looked pretty simplistic, and I thnk maybe they should have been a bit more complex. On the other hand, this is a Theory I test, which is the basic stuff. So perhaps, as long as I got all the notes in the chord and didn’t make the parts move a huge amount from note to note, I did what I should have done.

See? Overthinking.

I’m scheduled to take the Theory II test on Tuesday evening, before my Chamber Choir rehearsal. I know, technically, that’s after classes have started, but the Department Chair has okayed it and is holding a spot in the Theory Class for me as soon as I finish the test (and, of course, assuming I pass it).

So that, along with the start of the new choral season, has been a pretty large preoccupation for me the last week or so. I’ve been studying a lot and only tangentially paying attention to the news.

But I’m here and I’m okay. I’ll get back to posting the good stuff in a couple days. Look for rantish goodness over the weekend.
