Pat Robertson is Wrong

Pat Robertson dos not speak for me.

I do not believe that our goernment should assasinate Hugo Chavez. As a Christian, I repudiate his statement completely and without equivocation. I personally know of no Christian who would agree with his statement. In fact, it is my deepest conviction that virtually every Christian would, if shown this statement, be instantly and vigorously opposed to it.

I further believe that Pat Robertson has overstepped his bounds as a minister of a Christian religion. Though his religion is not mine, I understand that because I call myself a Christian, I will be assocated with him by those who do not know that there is more than one religion that can be considered “Christian”. It is necessary for them to understand that it is not a minister’s job to make public political statements and that Robertson’s doing so is wrong. If he wishes to say, as a private citizen, that the US should assasinate Chavez, that it his right and I would think little to nothing about it.

Unfortunately, he has chose to extend himself far beyond what his position as a minister of the Gospel allows under any Biblical circumstance. In that, he is wrong and he has done damage to his ability to act as a spiritual leader.

There. See how easy that was, my Muslim friends?

And to think that God told him he was going to be the president in '88.

Just remember that, while I don't think Pat Robertson speaks for most Christians, Hollywood actors don't speak for the majority of liberals either.

  3. If Pat Robertson was in charge of this country, we would be in the situation Iran is right now. The same sick people that control Iran are in charge of the Christian Coalition. Democracy and Freedom in Iran will require a revolution. I have no doubt of that.
