Hey! There’s that Other Shoe.

Yesterday, I noted a Washington Post article hyping draft fears. I asked, then, where the actual news was and why the WaPo decided now would be a good time to invoke the “d” word again.

Looks like I found the other shoe, except that it dropped before the WaPo article. Congressman Charlie Rangel announced, on May 26th, that he has reintroduced his legislation to reinstate the draft.

So, five days after Rangel made this announcement, which got almost no coverage whatsoever, the WaPo ran their article, which doesn’t mention Rangel’s legislation at all.

As hercule Poirot might say, this engages the little grey cells. It causes them to ponder.

It’s been nearly a year since the last Dem draft scare was all over the news and in that time we’ve heard not a single peep about the draft. Suddenly, within less than a week of each other, Rangel reintroduced his legislation and the WaPo ran its news-free article.

The odds of that happening coicidentally seems pretty high to me – like “Dave Chappelle at a wrap party” high.
