Howard Dead: You're All A Bunch of Ninnies!
Meanwhile, Howard Dean thinks we’re all quite illogical.
We have to acknowledge people’s fears. It’s not just about gay rights and abortion. It’s fear of what happens to their families. What they need is a signal from the Democratic Party that we’re going to make it easier for them to raise their kids. The mistake is to think we’re going to talk people out of their fears. These are not logical fears. Most kids will turn out fine, even in this era of bad stuff on television and things like that. You cannot sit down and logically explain to people why they have their fears.
It’s definitely a winning strategy for the DNC to tell folks that their concerns about the future are illogical and that their moral concerns are simply wildly unfounded.
That’s going to get them right to the White House, folks. Sure.

Fears aren't rational; they're arational. Dean was correct.
Fears can be very solidly based in rational thought. The fears many parents have that, despite their vigilance toward the things that influence their children, there's far more out there than they can monitor or combat is hardly an irrational one.
Dean was being condescending and dismissive.
