No War, But Some Assault is Okay.

Anti-Bush folks are just the gentlest sort, aren’t they?

Hundreds of people gathered at both ends of Meridian Hill Park in Northwest Washington for a peace rally sponsored by the D.C Antiwar Network.

But there were interlopers: Thirteen members of ProtestWarror, supporting the Bush administration and its policies in Iraq. When the Bush supporters arrived, about 20 black-clad, self-described anarchists emerged from the crowd, shouting profanity and epithets and demanding that they leave the peace rally.

When the Bush supporters refused to leave, the anarchists tore the sign out of the Bush supporters’ hands and stomped on them. When ProtestWarrior leader Gil Kobrin objected, several male anarchists knocked him to the ground, kicking him in the back and punching him. Other anarchists punched and shoved Kobrin’s 12 colleagues.

After D.C. Antiwar Network members broke up the fight, the Bush supporters heeded their order to leave the park. Kobrin then called D.C. police, who are now guarding them at the entrance of the park as they hold up their pro-war signs. “We’re going to hang tight,” Kobrin said. “We’re expressing our freedom of speech just as they are expressing theirs.”

Yep, their freedom of speech, their apparent freedom to beat up anyone whose speech they don’t like, their apparent freedom to promote “peace” by crushing dissent – literally.

Good guys those anti-war folks are. I hope the ones who did it end up with a could assault warrants on them.

Uh. Anarchists. Look up the definition. "a political theory holding all forms of governmental authority to be unnecessary and undesirable and advocating a society based on voluntary cooperation and free association of individuals and groups"

Sounds more like libertarians than Kerry supporters, Democrats, or Liberals.

  2. Curt says:

she never stated they were democrats or liberals, she said anti-war protestors. kinda funny why a group that holds all government as unnecessary would only protest republican functions tho huh? democrats are government also. idiots.

  3. Curt says:

And woops, meant to say he said not she said…sorry

  4. Jimmie says:

Sara, it's odd how these "anarchists" never seem to show up at Democratic functions. I would expect that, given the definition of which I'm pretty aware, anarchists would protest any political gathering.

    But no. Of course not.

  5. Inauguration Day
The inauguration went off without a hitch and man was that speech something. Great speach and probably one of the greatest deliveries Bush has made during a speech.

  6. LCVRWC says:

Hmmm. One thing that caught my eye was the Post calling the PW signs "pro-war." No liberal bias here, no sir.

We get plenty of anarchists that show up and cause problems. But generally speaking, the actions of Bush are more likely to trigger anarchist revolt. Namely the Patriot act.

  8. Jimmie says:

Yeah, that PATRIOT Act. I wondered when that would come up. So how is it that this law which apparently takes away so many people's rights and has turned us into an oppressive fascist dictatorship has managed to spawn such public protests. More specifically, how is it that these people who claim to be oppressed by a fascist thug can manage to protest out in public where everyone can hear and see them, and get their faces on the news broadcasts? Better yet, how can these protestors manage to assault someone within a few dozen feet of some police officers and not go immediately to jail?

Seems this PATRIOT Act isn't doing all the oppressing that these "anarchists" say it is.

But can you, or any of these "anarchists" point to any right that the PATRIOT Act has taken away from any American citizen? Just one, with documentation?

    Wimpiest warmongers, ever! LOL!
