This is cute, and a whole lot sad. Jonathan Klein, president of CNN, and a former Vice President as CBS News who oversaw “60 Minutes” had this to say:
“I don’t think that blogging, which is, you know, glorified Web-site hosting—that’s what it is.
Yeah, exactly. Blogging is glorified web-hosting.
Because what I do here is just a glorified version of this.
Does Klein even know what the Internet is and if he can’t see the difference between blogging and web hosting, what the hell is he doing running CNN? If I were the people doing the web hosting for CNN (whether that’s a private company, or the folks in CNN’s server farm), I’d very politely remind Mr. Klein that he has a hell of a lot to learn about his own company.
And, thanks to Michelle Malkin, I’d like to offer up a few of my own “Kleinisms”.
- Larry King: glorified mirror from “Sleeping Beauty”.
- Led Zepplin: glorified prom band
- Charlie Parker: glorified Kenny G
- Porsche: glorified Amish horse cart
- George W. Bush: glorified John F. Kerry
Let’s see what you all come up with!
UPDATE: Hello Michelle Malkin readers!
I don’t usually put comments up in my posts (not for any great reason, but it’s just not come up) but Reader EricH has another good one: “..broadcast journalism is, you know, glorified property management.” Read more for his explanation. It’s perfect.

THIS IS CNN.
Jonathan Klein, the president of CNN, thinks blogging is “you know, glorified Web-site hosting—that’s what it is.” Yeah, you know, this is, like, basically the same as this. Klein goes on: “I come out of the real world, man.” Which…
Oh, sure, I can follow that analogy. Oh, and broadcast journalism is, you know, glorified property management.
See, I’ll prove it–broadcasters work in a building, don’t they? Since their business couldn’t function without buildings, they’re obviously in the business of operating buildings. Q.E.D.
