Semper Fidelis!
Today marks the 229th Birthday for the United States Marine Corps founded on November 10, 1775 by resolution of the Continental Congress.
I think you’d be hard-pressed to find a group that has benefitted this country more than the US Marine Corps over the history of this nation. They remain not only the sharp point of our military but often serve as the public face of our country on humanitarian missions as well.
As I said last year at this time, I remain impressed at the family that the Marine Corps is. Once you are a Marine, I am told, you remain so until you die – you are part of a family whose bonds are forged by blood and iron. That awes me, and I suspect it always will.
Here’s the 2004 Birthday Message from General. M.W. Hagee, Commandant of the Marine Corps. It’s worth reading.
