The Pundits Speak!
Well, the pundits are certainly all over the place on the debate tonight.
What’s stunning is that the MS-NBC panel is giving the win to Bush and the Fox panel is giving the win to Kerry? What was that song the band played when Cornwallis surrendered to Washington (Bonus points if you give me the answer in the comments!)?
Oddly enough, it’s the conservatives who are the toughest on the President, for reasons that I can not even begin to divine. Bill Kristol is damned-near despondent. He reminds me of the guy drunk at the bar at closing time who just found out he has to go home to his empty apartment. Poor fella.
Chris Matthews, though, seems pretty enthusiastic about Bush’s performance, though. One thing that’s worth noting that Matthews points out, is that a good number of the battleground states are generally conservative when it comes to issues like abortion. That’s a point you may hear again and I’m betting that you’ll see a couple-point bounce for the President because of it.
