Oy! What’s All This, Then?

Welcome to the new, improved Sundries Shack!
You’ll see we have a really great site design, thanks entirely to the wonderous and talented Rachel of Web Divas. You’ll also notice that we’ve dropped the “Suburban” from our title. It seemed to me that keeping it was pretty much unnecessary. That and if you’re a person who’s had a lisp since childhood (and manages to conceal it well thanks to a couple years of speech therapy), you just want fewer “s” sounds, right?

You’ll also see a few sections over on the right side. They’re pretty much self-explanatory, and the one or two that aren’t, I’ll explain in another post or two to come.

Commenting is active, and requires you leave your name and an e-mail address. Play nice and I can leave the comments as they are, as opposed to going to some sort of sign-in process. I hate those and don’t see any reason why we would have to. We can all get along here, even though we will disagree.

If they’re not already here, my archives from Blogger will be along very shortly.

There will also be a couple new features coming along in the very near future. I’m working on bringing in an occasional Guest Blogger whose posts I know you’ll enjoy. He’s quite a smart man, and sits on the opposite side of several issues from me, so the give and take ought to be both educational and entertaining. With luck we’ll be able to do that on a fairly regular basis, as his time permits. I’m also working on a regular feature where we delve into a different issue in science that happens to be in the headlines at the time. I have a good friend whose brain is so large that it shows up on satellite images of the US and who is blessed with the ability to explain very intricate issues in ways that even I can grasp them. You’ll like it once we get it up and running.

So here we go: new site design, new address, a couple new goodies to come, and the same old rant and whimsy. What’s not to like?
